About

Hi

My name is Ollie, and my journey to veganism started quite young – I became vegetarian at around 7 years old. I told myself it was the taste and texture, but deep down, I couldn’t ignore a nagging feeling that it was more than that.

Over the years, I tried going fully vegan a few times, but cheese… well, cheese was my weakness. Eventually I watched Dominion and that was it. I had made up my mind. Now, I’m all about delicious, cruelty-free food!

Why This Blog?

20240301 152211

I wasn’t always a big cook. Food was…just fuel, you know?  But that changed when I went to uni.

Cooking became something I did everyday. It ignited my creativity and I realised I loved to cook for others. Soon, I was scribbling countless notes.

When I went vegan, I had to veganise all my favourites!  This blog is my way of organising that chaos, sharing recipes that evolved from old notes and finding new inspiration.

My Cooking Style

(And a word about cat hair)

My recipes sometimes lean on the longer side – I like to cook from scratch as much as possible.  Don’t get me wrong;  I love the vegan stuff you can buy these days, but there’s something satisfying about rolling up your sleeves and making it yourself.

Expect some simple weeknight wins, but I can’t resist a good project recipe. So, there will be some long ones for things like seitan meats and cheeses.

Oh, and if you spot a random cat hair in my photos,  just know I probably edited out ten others. They get everywhere!

My Food Philosophy

I want to show you that vegan food is crave-worthy, exciting, and, yes, sometimes worth a bit of effort.

I’m passionate about using real, nourishing ingredients as the foundation of my cooking. But occasionally, a sprinkle of xanthan gum or some tapioca starch can elevate a recipe to that next level of plant-based deliciousness.

These are more specialised ingredients not everyone has on hand. But sometimes, a little magic is needed to perfectly mimic the foods we loved before going vegan! However, I’m always learning and experimenting to recreate those experiences with everyday where possible.
